Persian classical music is an art that has survived for centuries both in oral and written forms. Based on improvisation and composition, it is interwoven with Persian poetry, and features a repertoire of several hundred short melodic movements called gusheh — also known as a melodic segment. Each gusheh has a unique character, feeling, and history to it, which has been passed on orally from generation to generation. Despite facing systematic suppression and ongoing resistance in Iran today, Persian classical music is as alive and vibrant as ever.
Born in Tehran/Iran in the year 1987, Behfar Behadoran is a multi instrumentalist.
